Quality Assurance in Toilets: Third-Party Inspections and Innovations

Sanitary ware is an important part of home improvement, and its quality directly affects the quality of daily life, especially the toilet is a product that needs a good performance every day, and its manufacturing process needs to strictly comply with quality control standards and certification requirements.

It is necessary for importers to establish effective quality control procedures to ensure the timely delivery of finished products that meet all relevant quality and safety standards. For brands or retailers, active quality control is essential to meet these challenges and optimize supply chain performance.

There are different types of toilets on the market. Common toilets on the market are generally divided into one-piece toilet assembly and two-piece toilet assembly. In recent years, some companies have chosen to develop smart toilets through continuous technical research, which have warm water washing, warm air drying, and seat Loop heating, sterilization and other intelligent and humanized functions.

How Does The Toilet Work?

When preparing to use a standard household toilet called a gravity toilet, both the tank and toilet are filled with water. When the joystick is pressed, it will lift up a rubber plug called a baffle, which allows the water in the tank to flow into the bowl. Water enters the bowl through small holes around the top of the inner bowl and siphon holes at the bottom of the bowl. Gravity forces the water in the bowl to flow onto the waste pipe. The water flowing into the bowl also cleans the bowl. The water in the bowl is replenished by the water entering from the water tank through the filling pipe.

Check for the completeness of all accessories to ensure they meet design specifications and avoid potential installation issues.

4. Assembly Check

Inspect the assembly of all toilet components to ensure they are securely fitted together, guaranteeing the structural safety and stability.

5. Water Leakage Check / Leak Tightness Check

Perform water leakage testing to ensure the toilet is watertight during normal use, preventing any water loss and potential damage.

6. Stability / Wobble Base Check

Evaluate the stability of the toilet after installation to ensure it does not wobble during use, providing comfort and safety for users.

7. Ball Emissions Testing

Test the flushing performance of the toilet to ensure effective waste removal and prevent clogging issues.

Place 100 polypropylene balls (each ball 19mm dia. 3g) in the toilet, starts flushing, test 3 times, The emission balls shall not less than 85pcs in 3 testing average.

8. Destructive Test for Seat Cover

Conduct a destructive strength test on the seat cover to ensure it does not easily break or fail upon repeated use.

9. Water Consumption Check

Measure the water usage during flushing to ensure compliance with international water conservation standards.

10. Splash Pollution Check

Test the design of the flushing action to ensure it does not cause excessive splash pollution during use.

11.Flushing tests

a.1 Sawdust test (or by ink):

20g of fine dry wooden sawdust. Moisten the complete inner surface of the WC pan below the flushing rim and above the surface of the water in the trap. Immediately afterwards, sprinkle that sawdust as completely and evenly as possible over the moistened surface. Flush the WC pan and measure any unwashed area. Repeat this procedure 5 times.

Ensure that the color of the toilet matches the design specifications, maintaining consistency and avoiding appearance issues due to color variance.

14. Fatigue Test

Conduct durability testing under prolonged use to evaluate the toilet’s reliability under various usage conditions.

15. Product Size Measurement

Verify that the dimensions of the toilet conform to design specifications, facilitating installation and meeting the needs of domestic and international markets.

Summary

These quality control measures are essential for ensuring that toilets exported from China meet international standards. • ANSI/ASME 112.3.4-2000: the standard establishes physical, performance and testing requirements for macerating toilet systems.
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): WaterSense Standard the standard is for toilet systems with a manufacturer’s claim of water efficiency.
